The greatest goal in our history RIP Stevie
In June 1980, I had the great honour of having my football medals presented to me by Stevie. As any 10 year old boy will testify, meeting your heroes is a terrifying experience, and I was no different. I remember well walking along the school stage to meet him more nervous than at any moment in my young life. I had grown up hearing tales of a game which happened 3 years before I was born, and of Stevie Chalmers, the man who won the cup for Celtic...so to be getting a medal from him was just the stuff of dreams for me. I needn't have been nervous though, for he couldn't have been any nicer to me and all the rest of the medal winners from St Monica's primary school in Coatbridge. I reiterate, it was indeed a great honour and a privilege to meet Stevie. A true legend in every sense of the word. May he rest in peace

Sincere condolences to Stevie’s family. They have lost a loving husband, father & grandpa and they are all in my thoughts and prayers. To them thank you for allowing the Celtic family to celebrate his life. The man who scored the most important goal in Celtic’s History; the man who brought joy to millions, the Lisbon Lion who had time for everyone, legend doesn’t cover the remarkable man he was and always will be. Thank you Stevie 💚 you raised the bar and brought untold joy. A life well lived and a legacy that will never be seen again. Rest In Peace Stevie and thank you 💚💚💚
I met Stevie our side the Celtic store when I was about 8. I had just bought the champions league ball in town and he signed it for me after coming out the stadium in his Lions jacket! Even the young fans who have come to love the club long after 1967 knows how much Stevie and his team mates mean to the club. Thank you for helping to give us a club and culture that we can be so proud of, Stevie! Rest in peace.
RIP Stevie and condolences to family and friends from Ireland.

Thank you for all the memories Stevie as you were a hero of my youth with your unassuming personality and personal humility. You were a great example to young people as they and I were growing up and we appreciated your amazing skills and sportsmanship on the playing field.
